About DahabRate

DahabRate is a small site that shows the reference gold price in the Gulf markets clearly and explains how it is worked out.

Gold shop window in a Gulf souq with gold necklaces on red velvet busts and rows of bangles

It started with a question that comes up on every trip to a gold souq: is the price the shop asks reasonable? Answering it needs a neutral number for what a gram is worth at that moment, which you can then hold against the making charge. That number is what we publish.

Who writes it

Yousef Al-Haddad. Has followed gold prices in the Gulf souqs for years; writes the notes on this site and checks how the numbers are calculated. He does not work in the gold trade or take commissions from shops, and the site does not sell gold.
